Hörmann is Europe’s leading manufacturer of doors, gates, frames and operators. Every new market starts with the same materials: brochures and data sheets in many languages. With InTO, Hörmann now translates these documents four times as often as in 2022 — and pays 69 percent less for it. Here’s how.
| Client | Hörmann KG, Steinhagen |
|---|---|
| Industry | Building components / Manufacturing |
| Users | 230+ group-wide |
| Rollout | 2 weeks |
| Deployment | On-premise |
| Document types | InDesign, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, web, SAP |
Every language was its own project
Hörmann is based in Steinhagen and supplies more than 50 countries. Over 6,000 employees stand behind doors, gates and operators installed all over the world. Every product launch starts with the same materials: brochures, data sheets, web copy. And each of them has to exist in many languages.
The problem wasn’t the translation itself, but the path to it. The source files were spread across InDesign, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, the web and SAP. Each format has its own rules. So every language version turned into a small project with many people involved.
Three things cost the most time. Corrections went back and forth by email and copy-paste. The layout was rebuilt by hand after every language. And coordination jumped between tools and departments. Errors and delays were the inevitable result.
One process on one platform, live in two weeks
InTO brings this workflow onto a single platform. A document is uploaded, and the rest runs in a structured way. AI agents and a translation memory handle the groundwork and reuse text that has already been translated. What is translated once is never paid for twice.
Editing happens directly in the layout. The department sees the text exactly where it will later appear and corrects it online. The constant copying between Word and InDesign disappears. InTO then writes the finished text back into the original document automatically, formatting included.
The system was live in two weeks. Today more than 230 employees use it group-wide, from engineering to marketing. It runs on-premise, so the data stays in-house.
InTO showed us where our real costs were. And then made sure they disappeared.
More output, lower cost
The numbers show where the old process tied up money. Hörmann now translates four times more documents than in 2022 and pays 39 percent less per project. The total cost of multilingual documents fell by 69 percent — and the pure translation cost by as much as 75 percent.
InTO has the clearest impact at three points in day-to-day work.
| Before | With InTO | Impact |
|---|---|---|
| Manual error correction via email and copy-paste | Online editing directly in the layout | −90 %turnaround time |
| Layout rebuilt by hand 30× per document | Automatic layout write-back | −58 %DTP cost |
| Coordination across many tools and departments | One central workflow | −42 %project management |
Behind the percentages is a simple effect: what used to take weeks and tie up many hands now runs predictably and with far less friction.
- Marketing reaches new markets faster.
- Less rework, less coordination, fewer errors.
- One platform for every department instead of scattered island solutions.
